Simply because a child has passed on does not make them any less part of a family.
Hello, I’m Rachel and I am a portrait artist and I specialise in a unique and untapped area of Portraiture.
When you have had the sad experience of losing your baby from either pre-term or post birth often all you have as a ‘memory’ is a photograph. This is where I can create for you, from your photograph a sensitive, soft pastel portrait.
As proud parents, this is a beautiful way to celebrate your child.

About Me:
Originally born in the UK, I migrated to Australia with my family when I was three. I grew up on the Northern beaches of Sydney.
At the end of High School I attended the City Art Institute where I completed a three year Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Design and Drawing. Art has always been a large part of my life.
After Art College, I ran my own Hand Design and Painted Garment business for four years, prior to moving interstate to Queensland where the business expanded to a family business where I continued the designs, selling in boutiques throughout Australia and Overseas.
When I started my own family, my time became so precious to me and I wanted to be with my children, so I began working in Childcare. It was during these next two years where the idea of Baby Portraiture began.

When I started my own family, my time became so precious to me and I wanted to be with my children, so I began working in Childcare. It was during these next two years where the idea of Baby Portraiture began.
My need to draw became so strong that I began drawing the children in childcare as they slept. The popularity of these drawings grew rapidly. I was soon being commissioned by parents to draw their child and travel to many different childcare centres.
It was during my time at childcare, I was approached by a lady who asked me to create a portrait of her friend’s baby from a photo who had passed away four weeks earlier at only 8 months of age.
This was to be the first and start of my specialised portraiture. I was soon contacted by a local funeral parlour after he heard of the idea. They were very excited about the new concept and to be able to offer such a unique gift of love to parents in grief.
It has been wonderful offering this portraiture service to families all over the world for the past 10 years.
